The Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library and the Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry invite members of the Emory community and the general public to the panel “Legacies of Reconstruction” on November 10, 2020, from 1:00-2:00 pm EST. Panelists include Drs. Susan Ashmore (Emory University) & Alyasah Ali Sewell (Emory University), Danielle Wiggins (Caltech). It will be moderated by Camille Goldmon (Emory University).
“Legacies of Reconstruction” is the second of three panels that will explore the history and significance of Reconstruction. Panelists will discuss the failures, successes, and issues arising out of Reconstruction that continue to shape our present time. The program will last an hour, with the last 15 minutes reserved for questions.
As Pellom McDaniels wrote, “In many ways, the questions and events of Reconstruction are the questions of today.” Join us as we explore how the Black reconstruction archive can help us understand what it means to be an American in 2020.
