Miriam Udel
Associate Professor of Yiddish Language, Literature, and Culture @German Studies, Tam Institute for Jewish Studies
Miriam Udel received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Harvard University in 2008, having begun teaching at Emory in 2007. Her dissertation focused on the ethics of speech and conversation in modernist fiction, and it concentrated equally on Yiddish and other literatures. Udel's research interests include Yiddish modernism and anti-modernism, the rise of the Yiddish novel, the relation between modern and classical Jewish literature, and American-Jewish literature.
Marshall Duke
Charles Howard Candler Professor of Psychology @Department of Psychology
Marshall P. Duke received his B.A. in general psychology from Rutgers University and his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Indiana University. Following two years of service as a psychologist in the United States Army, he joined the Emory faculty in 1970. His research interests include: personality science, family myths and rituals, and childhood resilience.
