Paul Root Wolpe, Ph.D.
Director of the Center for Ethics at Emory University @Emory University
Paul Root Wolpe, Ph.D. is the Raymond F. Schinazi Distinguished Research Chair of Jewish Bioethics, Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Sociology, and the Director of the Center for Ethics at Emory University. Dr. Wolpe’s scholarly work focuses on the social, religious, and ideological impact of medicine, technology and biotechnology on the human condition, as well as general ethical thought. He is Editor-in-Chief of the American Journal of Bioethics Neuroscience, a past President of the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities, past President of the Association of Bioethics Program Directors, a Fellow of the Hastings Center, and a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, the country’s oldest medical society. For 15 years he served as the Senior Bioethicist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Winner of the 2011 World Technology Network Award in Ethics, Dr. Wolpe was named one of Trust Across America’s Top 100 Thought Leaders.
