A Deeper Dive into CHAMPS Data

Description

Join Dr. Dianna Blau for another interactive session on using and analyzing CHAMPS data.

Building on our introductory data webinar in August, in this session Dr. Blau will delve deeper into the data, describing the top causes of death and highlighting key findings for the three age groups CHAMPS assesses: stillbirths, neonates, and infants/children under 5 years of age. Questions and discussion are highly encouraged.

Dr. Blau is seconded to CHAMPS from U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and serves as the Senior Director for Science. In this role she is responsible for and provides direction and expert advice on all aspects of the surveillance, public health, diagnostic and cause of death determination activities related to CHAMPS implementation.

In this role she is responsible for and provides direction and expert advice on all aspects of the surveillance, public health, diagnostic and cause of death determination activities related to CHAMPS implementation. Dr. Blau began her career with the CDC in 2008, assigned to the Infectious Diseases Pathology Branch (IDPB) in the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Disease (NCEZID) as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer. Prior to joining CDC, she was an Army Veterinary Medical Officer and worked at the US Army Research Institute for Infectious Disease (USAMRIID) as Chief, In vivo Studies in the Diagnostics System Division. She initially joined CHAMPS in 2015 as the Laboratory and Diagnostics Lead, where she developed and implemented the CHAMPS diagnostic protocols and Determination of Cause of Death (DeCoDe) process.
